In my opinion, unless there is a big reason why, you should keep your files on a PC-based server. Reason? Disk space is cheaper. -----Original Message----- From: Joel Fritz [mailto:JFritz@sharperimage.com] Sent: Friday, November 16, 2001 4:05 PM To: 'midrange-l@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Want to replace Nt server I'd start by looking at the IFS and NetServer docs. I've never worked in an environment without some sort of pc server, but it seems like the 400 could be the server you log into. One caveat is that the IFS can be a bit slower than a PC file server. You'll only see that with fairly large files. My drive mappings persist on my pc, and I think that's normal. It would be trickier if you wanted anyone to see the right mappings from any PC on the network. The IFS is really cool and AFAIK, hardly anyone uses it much. > -----Original Message----- > From: Dave Willenborg [mailto:dwillenborg@jcrob.com] > Sent: Friday, November 16, 2001 1:49 PM > To: midrange-l@midrange.com > Subject: Want to replace Nt server > > > My boss, the CIO, has given me a challenge.
