I follow the logic on why do things twice. If I am going to load something on my machine why load something which will be obsolete first? V5R1 has been out for several months thus it's been shaken down pretty hard. V4R5 dies in July of 2002. That's less than 9 months. If you NEED the enhancements of V5R1 (Linux, LPAR on single processor, etc.) then you need to upgrade, but until then... -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516)627-3800 x11 WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com -----Original Message----- From: Rodriguez, Jose Amable [mailto:jarodriguez@grupom.com.do] Sent: Monday, November 12, 2001 11:17 AM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: V5R1 Hello to all, I am wondering if anyone can shed some light as to disadvanteges to upgrading our OS from V4R5 to V5R1. We currently have an AS/400 9406-600 running V4R5 and are upgrading to an entry level 820. Has anyone had any "bad" experiences with V5R1. Our shop basically uses and ERP system and heavy database (ODBC) reporting. Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jose Amable Rodriguez Dominican Knits, S.A.
