I managed to get COBOL run units understood well enough to make interaction between RPG, COBOL and CL work okay. I wasn't so much taking shots at it as I was displaying unfamiliarity. For example, I never got clear on the concept of "concurrent run units", nor did I ever get clear on how the same program could be both a MAIN program and a subprogram in the same job. Of course, I never needed to know that much. However, I did recognize enough to see how your reference to them might translate over to request levels. And however it is that COBOL does its magic handling run units, it did seem that request levels would be easier and Leif would be bound to figure them out.
