Data can be restored to the S36EE.  Program objects cannot.  They must be
recompiled.

No, you have to recompile to create *PGM objects which can be run by OS/400.
There program objects use nearly compatible RPG II source, but the object code
is much different.

The *M36 machine runs SSP itself complete with 64K program size limitations,
16-bit addresses, program overlays, etc.

Nope.  With M36 you never run STRS36 or any other OS/400 command for that
matter.  You cannot use RPGLE programs.  You cannot build logical files (except
S/36 alternate indexes).  Your data files are not in QS36F.  Instead you have a
portion of your DASD reserved for the exclusive use of the *M36.  To share data
between it and "native" programs would require the use of DDM as it they were on
physically separate boxes.
