I guess we all will be fliping hamburgers after all.

I don't know what the VB/RPG perm rates are in the US but here is a
breakdown of NZ rates
With BCS Degree or Equiv.
year 1: N.Z.$35,000 (US $14,000) VB, RPG
year 2: N.Z.$45,000 (US $18,000) VB,RPG
year 3: N.Z.$52,000 (US $20,800) VB,SQL Server,RPG

senior VB,RPG
Year 4 - 7 N.Z.$60,000 - $80,000 (US $24,000--$32,000) For Contract
Work add 50% VB,SQL Server,RPG
Year 7 > RPG- max perm lid around $75,000
Year 7 > Solution Architect N.Z. $120,000 (US $48,000) VB,SQL Server

Putting things in perspective a lawyer in N.Z. would earn double these
figures, a Doctor/Dentist three times these figures.
NZ/Au rates are low because the cost of living is much
lower than the US.The rates I have quoted reflect
a nice 3-4 bedroom house/good location are costs around NZ $400,000,
AU $500,000.I would say in the US you would
be looking at double that figure.
European ECC rates seem to be double the US rates againI
