Well, I've checked with my financial advisor ... and getting non-profit status would be far more trouble than it's worth. There's a lot of tax reporting and legal stuff that is required, which would probably far outstrip the benefits. In addition, I've heard that some folks have flagged MIDRANGE.COM contributions as educational expenses (like COMMON, books, conferences, etc). Of course, I'm not a CPA, so I cannot say for sure as to what would be acceptable by the local taxing bodies. I would like to point out, however, that monetary contributions are not all that are accepted... if you have some older (but not necessarily obsolete) hardware that is being retired, I would gladly take it off your hands. That which I cannot use directly, would probably be auctioned on eBay.
