David, Thanks for info. I put in a call to my former employer, who has just finished a 6-year project to scrap my life's work (or a big chunk of it, in converting to Eunuchs). Haven't heard back yet, but his BP might not need the old equipment, an F-something model. When they upgraded from the previous E-something, they took the disks out, but the BP just left the CPU and cage with my former employer, presumably because it didn't have much of any market value. I know you'd have no use for this junk. But I recall a thread from a while back, and wondered if there'd be a use for a list to serve as a clearing-house for this kind of "junk" equipment. Someone from St. Lewie was looking for some, and I enquired at that time, because even an E-junk could be used for teaching purposes... JMHO. Later, thanks guy...! -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of David Gibbs Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2001 9:35 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: MIDRANGE.COM Contributions (was: *** ADMIN: New list -- ISN-Citizens!) > Checked with The Boss...;-) Offer still stands...:-) If you or someone can > start putting together a 501(c), and you give me an address, the check's in > the mail... Well, I've checked with my financial advisor ... and getting non-profit status would be far more trouble than it's worth. There's a lot of tax reporting and legal stuff that is required, which would probably far outstrip the benefits. In addition, I've heard that some folks have flagged MIDRANGE.COM contributions as educational expenses (like COMMON, books, conferences, etc). Of course, I'm not a CPA, so I cannot say for sure as to what would be acceptable by the local taxing bodies. I would like to point out, however, that monetary contributions are not all that are accepted... if you have some older (but not necessarily obsolete) hardware that is being retired, I would gladly take it off your hands. That which I cannot use directly, would probably be auctioned on eBay.
