Business owners are human too, so they make errors in judgement all the time. In my own example, if the owner had been absolutely adamant about a pure Microsoft solution, I'd be faced with the choice of giving him what he wants, or walking away from the project. Sometimes you can afford to turn a bit of business away, but it's something that most IT people can't make a habit of. So you do the next best thing; you become an expert in the MS technologies, and you do the best you can with what you're expected to work with.
