Experienced programmers who are already skilled in multiple languages may simply prefer other styles of learning! Personally, I prefer to work with programmers with skills in multiple languages and tools, regardless of their age, because they will have a greater tendency to choose the appropriate language and tool for each particular job, rather than trying to apply the strategy du jour whether it fits or not...
