According to the FTP Error Code Table found at
http://hpcf.nersc.gov/help/access/ftp_error_codes.html , the 400 series of
error codes indicate that the command was not accepted and the requested
action did not take place, but the error condition is temporary and the
action may be requested again.  Error 426 in particular means that the
connection closed and the transfer aborted.  So if you give it a try again
tomorrow and it still doesn't work I would check for authority and object
lock issues.
