I don't think you've "learned" that, Nathan.  The article which you're
quoting thirdhand (Leif was quoting Tim Prickett-Morgan) was written nearly
three years ago and made the performance remark solely in reference to the
Northstar model 170's released in September of 1998 (and I never saw
anything about "how" this "gearing down" occurred).  The article clearly
stated that the only model so affected was the Northstar 170 (in order to
keep it in line with the older Apache 170s); you might want to ask Tim if he
has any further information on the newer models before you extrapolate this
figure to all models of the line.  Otherwise, you're saying "that elephant
is dead, therefore all elephants must be dead".
