I'm not sure what your point is but this is a good example of what NOT to
do.

It takes a lot more machine cycles to do a multiply with overflow processing
then simply doing two moves and it obscures the purpose (to convert a date
from MMDDYY to YYMMDD). Didn't we learn anything from Y2K? 

Just because something is more complicated, it doesn't make it slicker.
