Perhaps I should explain a little more. > From: "Mark Walter" <mwalter@netrax.net> > Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2001 9:50 AM > > > I'm still a little confused. Our internal network is very simple. YOUR_INTERNET_ROUTER will have a 10.* address (as you indicated), so the AS/400 will "know" to send out that card by default. ("By default" means for any address that's not already resolvable.) So, if your network configuration is very simple, such as this: card1 ipaddr = 192.168.0.24 netmask 255.255.255.0 card2 ipaddr = 10.100.100.5 netmask 255.255.255.224 inet gateway ipaddr = 10.100.100.1 netmask 255.255.255.224 Default route next hop = 10.100.100.1 No other special routing information The AS/400 will automagically send all information destined for the 192.168.0 network to card1. All other traffic will be directed to card2, requesting forward by the gateway at 10.100.100.1. In other words, if it can't figure out where else to send it, it will send to card2, requesting forward by 10.100.100.1 HTH -- Dennis Lovelady Fayetteville, GA mail: dennis@lovelady.com URL: http://www.lovelady.com ICQ: 5734860 -- "The honeymoon is over when he phones that he'll be late for supper - and she has already left a note that it's in the refrigerator." - Bill Lawrence +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
