There may be a package that does exactly what you want, but there are a few built ins in OS/400 that may not involve any more work than conversion software. I'm assuming that you will need to define record layouts, do filtering, and, maybe summarize. Regardless of what tool you use, you have to know something about the data to start with. CA file transfer provides SQL support and allows you to export data from 400 files in a wide variety of formats. Query400 and QMQRY (or SQL if you paid for it) will send data to output files pretty painlessly. Then there's always matching records. <g> > -----Original Message----- > From: Dave Snyder [mailto:dsnyder@blcnet.com] > Sent: Tuesday, March 06, 2001 7:33 AM > To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > Subject: Re: Data conversion utility > > > Thanks, I did not know about those commands before, but what > about a utility to easily "mess" with the data once it is in > the physical file? > > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
