Seeing if anyone knows the answer to this one, since it seems to have stumped IBM. We have a 740 12-way which is stating that one of the processors has failed. IBM has identified it as processor number 1. The display on the machine shows activity on the processor, there's no system attention light, the box works fine - no apparent performance hit. We're slated to have it replaced in a week and a half, but the question is this: if the processor does indeed fail, will it take the machine down or just lock itself out, and we'd be the proud owners of an 11-way? Thanks in advance for your help. Justin C.
