Some commands I sometimes forget that are useful in your situation.

PRTDEVADR requires you to key in what you called the work station controller,
but to remember the names you may need WRKCFGSTS F4 what parameter was that
again?

GO DEVICESTS option 10 runs PRTDEVADR for all controllers & you not need to
remember what you called them.

We can also do WRKCFGSTS with *PRINT but it is not super informative.

WRKDEVD is similar to WRKCFGSTS F14 big picture ... we label our devices with
annotation regarding WHERE they are in our buildings - department / user /
etc.

If you have M36, GO CMDM36 option 11 to get at M36 configuration such as
DSPM36CFG M36CFG(M36/M3601) OUTPUT(*PRINT) = "map" of what devicesare on
which ports from a slightly different perspective than PRTDEVADR.

If you need to look at this from inside 36 - the command is CNFIGSSP

I would love to see the 400 config stuff for remote sites in the kind of
"map" format we get for the locals & used to have on 36.

Often when attaching devices & substituting cables, connections that started
out being no problem, manage to get forced in the unscrewing & fitting on so
how do you know for a fact that this length of cable has not got messed up
and which end is messed up? You can get a portable twinax cable asembly
tester, intended for folks who assemble their own cables from the component
parts ... was this put together properly or has it been messed up since ...
you can get this for under $100.00 from System 3x/4xx Warehouse
www.system3x.com their part number 997726

I am looking at their catalog right now - there are many kinds of twinax
connectors & there is one kind that is called a Terminator.

We can get a display station from IO 801-972-1446 or some distributor, in
which there is an option to display the "map" of the port that it is
connected to, with various "indicators" to tell us where there are problems
on the port ... basically the information you are struggling to figure out,
much like IBM ANZPRB does for communications picture. Unfortunately IO is a
bit expensive vs. their competition so difficult to justify having at least
one at each site just to do cable through inspection.

Ideally we want this "map" to Client Access so we can look at our total
configuration & have color coded RED where there is a connection problem.
