You will find that the AS/400 does not really care about which volume something is stored on. Actually a file is allocated to the least used drive as part of the optimizer and may have fragments on all of the drives. You may create an ASP (Auxiliary Storage Pool) which would isolate a single drive or cluster a group of drives and they are treated like a single drive.
