Dennis,

You might buy a book with examples. I like Joe Celko's SQL puzzles and
answers, but
it is probably a good second book as the examples are not trivial.

I'm running V4R5M0 & a beginner at SQL.

I am trying to find some information on how to "code" column totaling. I
have a report that selects qty, price, (qty * price) from a file but I would
like to total the three columns. Looked through the Midrange archieves but
you get tired of looking through 278 entries after 25 & they don't pertain
to my question.

I found one book on the on-line info center named "SQL Programming Concepts"
that has a very "brief" section on interactive SQL. But nothing that gives
any programming examples.

I've talked to the local technical college & Interactive SQL is the only
AS/400 based SQL class they teach & that is probably what I will do. The
instructor said the class is very basic & I've fooled around enough to
wonder about a waste of time (16 weeks) & money. All I have to do is get a
couple of hints & it would be worth the effort so I think it will happen.

Again, all I want to do is find some information on Interactive SQL. How to
total a column is what I am trying to accomplish.
