After watching this thread thus far, I finally had to take a peek at the M$ propaganda. My gosh, someone certainly has mastered the art of "spin" - they probably teach the Washington pols this stuff! Methinks they wrote this pile of ... er, document after someone wrote in one of the AS/400 trade rags that M$ was still using AS/400s. November sounds about the right timeframe. Dan Bale IT - AS/400 Handleman Company 248-362-4400 Ext. 4952 -------------------------- Original Message -------------------------- It's probably that the article didn't deserve a comment. Look at some of the claims. They migrated to Windows 2000 in 1999 (yeah, right ! - could it even stay up for an hour back then?). Their chart implies there was only ever one AS/400 in Redmond. Look at all the horsepower they claimed to have replaced with a meagre number of servers, and yet they claim sub-second response time. And of course it'a all worded so they don't actually deny there are outsourced applications running on AS/400's (that are NOT located at Microsoft). The whole thing smells like something from their spin department. In my books there are liars, damned liars, then there's Microsoft. Their performance in court in the DOJ trial proves this. Remember when they tried to submit that doctored videotape as evidence and were caught on it. ...Neil "Chris Andrle" <andrle@localnet.com> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 2001/01/10 22:55 Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: AS/400s Extinct at Microsoft Did I miss a discussion regarding this article?
