This has come up several times ... if you search the archives ... SEARCH ALL 
... you will find quite a bit of traffic.  The best evidence I saw was where 
someone on this list who was at an IBM class was reporting what a student in 
that class related ... that student had been working at Microsoft when this 
went down & knew why Microsoft could not get the NTs to replicate AS/400s ... 
you need to find the original quotes & not rely on my memories, to see what 
the odds are that the story was fabricated or believable.
