Ted,
Microsoft vehemently denies that they have any AS/400s anymore (or
use any
applications that run on AS/400s), and is pressing hard to get a
correction
or a retraction in SHOWCASE. Please contact me if you have any useful
information regarding the validity of the rumors, or if you know them to be
false.

Subject: Microsoft-AS/400 Story True

In the November 2000 Issue of Showcase Magazine, article "IBM's Frank
Soltis, Uncensored", Frank confirms the rumors we've heard about
Microsoft trying to get rid of it's 23 AS/400s.

According to Frank, Microsoft planned to unplug its AS/400s and power
up 1,200 NT servers it needed to replace them. But things didn't quite go
as planned. "They found they couldn't make it work. Today, one year
after unplugging their AS/400s, they're back on the AS/400."
