I wonder why this many print files. The program must be doing some huge chores. Because of that I also wonder if the thing could have a couple or three printer files pulled out with a little redesign and make a standalone application that does 2 or 3 printer files. Perhaps it could just sit and wait on a dataqueue, or even have finished data passed in as parms. _______________________ Booth Martin Booth@MartinVT.com http://www.MartinVT.com _______________________ Henrik Krebs <hkrebs@hkrebs.dk> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 08/24/2000 03:21 AM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: MIDRANGE-L <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: RE: Max 8 prtf's in a RPG pgm ? A limit is a limit (well - maybe a DISK-file can be overridden to a print file - I have only tried this with CPF-commands way back. Also a SPECIAL file may call a printing program). But much depends on what facilities you need. Is '9 files' needed to distribute print to 9 different locations. Can you get the input in that sequence? Then you only need 1 PRINTER. Close and reopen this device file if you need more spool files. Hi there, Apparently there is a limit of 8 printer files allowed in a RPG program. I have a program that needs to use 9 (possibly more). Any ideas on how to achieve this (other than duplicating and splitting the process into 2 programs).
