this was great John. You forgot one thing (or I read over it).

<SNIP>

You might have read over it Brad.

I work in PDM the majority of the time, I do use Code/400 and I write
VA/RPG too.

I have given up the GUI vs Character battle long ago.

I said, If I'm showing the AS/400 to a PHB type or a young person that I
feel is more comfortable with a GUI look and feel(the young gentleman who
previously posted excluded)
I show off Ops Nav. Bring up a Physical File, Edit it, Work with
Permission's, look at spool files. They walk away, I go back to work
with STRSQL, WRKSPLF, WRKOUTQ, etc
( I do feel the Permission's thing in Ops Nav is neat compared to GRTOBJAUT
though).

I don't care if any of the "Existing old guard" (like me) AS/400 customers
use it.
I am glad we have it on our box. Just like I'm Proud to say we have C2
security level from the government even though I'll never use it. I'm Glad
that we have C compilers too. I might never use them either.

I think it is good for our platform when competing in the industry.

John
