Nina,

You've hit the nail on the head here. It is not that the 400 *can't* do
these things. The problem is the *Perception* is that it can't do these
things.

Blondeware sells. Is it better than green screen. No. Does it look and feel
better than green screen. Yes. Was Windows 3.0 better than DOS. No. Is Bill
Gates worried about his mortgage... You see where I'm going here. Perception
is soooo underrated!

Alistair

it was a windows based, very comprehensive tool to collect in house a/r.
there was nothing that couldn't be done with the as/400 and the current
windows tools, whatever your choice is.

it was well thought out and well designed. and the vendors put on a
good show.

it was also expensive. leased for $500 per month, per seat.

i mentioned to the twosome that we were as/400 programmers, and an
application like that could be written that was as/400 based. the guy
told me i'd be wasting my time, the as/400 was old and no one wanted
as/400 software anymore. when i told them that wasn't true, you could
do gui and all kinds of stuff with the as/400, they looked at me funny.
i guess they wondered how many times i'd been thru the drink line..
