First of all Create a file of User ID, Passwords, Customer Number and last logon. Create a logon page that will create a persistent connection and save the customer number. Net.Data can access anything on your AS400. You have to control the library list within your CGI programs. We pass all request to server programs via data queues for performance reasons. The actual CGI program is very small and has no files. The persistent connection save the customer number and added it to all requests submitted to the data queues. Christopher K. Our goal in the future is to allow customers access to their bills or to place orders. I have been researching Net.Data as a possible solution. I may have missed the answer in my reading, but will Net.Data allow me to access a file in another library on the AS/400? Also, will it allow me to implement e-commerce on a small scale? I know I must delve into this more; I'm still in a research phase. Security will be dealt with once we find out we can access the bills. I'm hoping to be able to access it through specific parameters within the file such as a customer number. I would appreciate any information and even suggestions into other possible software with which to do this.
