RE: Question on Reorganizing IBM Files...

IMHO that is why IBM gave us the RCLSTG command.  Next IPL, run it and then
look at those files.  By the way, Reuse Deleted Records adds lots of
overhead to the data base manager, (searching for deleted records), and that
is why IBM does not use it on system files.  I suppose you can change them
but It will/may affect your entire systems performance.

Hi Folks !

Doing "disk cleaning" and I have some programs that rat out files with
deleted records. Along with our 3rd party software apps files I also
have IBM files that show up on my "Files with Deleted Records in order
of "biggest offenders" report:
The top ones are:

Cross Reference Physical Files:

QSYS/QADBIFLD has 273,940 active records and 1,410,315 deleted records
!!
QSYS/QADBKFLD has 18,824 active records and 42,115 deleted records.

and then a BUNCH of other Cross Ref files that are not NEAR as
"bloated"...

OS/400 Document Library File
QUSRSYS/QAOSSS14 has 2,919 active records and 19,625 deleted records.

My question is can these things be reorged ? I know they are CONSTANTLY
in use so it would have to be in restricted state. Or better YET, why
doesn't IBM use the "Reuse deleted records" parameter ??? !!!
