Ours is set to reuse deleted records also. I don't think we've
fiddled with it. We only have 12 deleted records and it's been
over a month since the last RCLSTG. Would a mass library delete
cause many deleted records? I would think so. Maybe this is your
situation Chuck.

Gee, Our's is set to reuse deleted records. Don't see much performance
problem though. I thought it was the default!

We're on V4R3.

Thanks Chris !

I guess I never really considered the RCLSTG command for this (Duh) until I
got
Rob's post !!

And I wasn't planning on changing IBM's files (I consider stuff like that a
no
no) but DO appreciate the explanation about how Reuse Deleted Records can
impact
system performance !!!

Would this (sys performance degradation) apply to 3rd party files or my own
or is
it more impacted by the usage level of a file ?

Thanks !

Chuck
