Back up to a tape and send off site to have it converted/copied to the
correct tape for the main frame. Why is FTP out of the question? Do you
have a slow connection between your systems? We have two AS400 on a 100Mbit
Full Duplex LAN and have FTP Large save file between them. One was over a
GByte. Faster than Save to QIC restore from QIC. Is this an ongoing need.
If so, invest in a tape drive for either the main frame or AS400 that is
compatible. If they are in the same room, you can share the 3480/90 tape
drive by buying an IOP for the AS400. If the com line between them is slow,
you can invest in a faster one. One shot deal, you a third party that has
compatible tape drives to copy from one to the other.

I have four AS/400 database files totaling 2.5 Gigabytes. What are my best
options for getting these files to a mainframe? Obviously FTPing these
files is out of the question because of the size. The mainframers have
3480/3490 tape drives, but we don't have any of these on our AS/400's. Any
ideas?
