I understand that; I don't refute the fact the employee morale can
suffer, and along with it the quality or quantity of work, etc.

It *does* happen.  I'm just not convinced it is as "unfair" to the
employee as it may sound.  And I'm speaking as someone who has been
there, done that.

But then, you'll notice that I did mention I'm no longer an
employee...  I like being self-employed; I get to pick which 16 hours
a day I work. <g>
