Yes and No. How is the remote AS400 attached to the local AS400s LAN? Are they on the same subnet? If not what is the speed of the link between the two subnets. For instance, we have to AS400s on the same hub. One is 100M Full Duplex and the other is 10M Half Duplex. Data transfer is lightning fast. A third resides on another subnet and is connected at 100M Full Duplex. The two subnets are linked via a pair of routers with a frame like at 128k. Not as fast as the two on the same hub even with one at 10M Half Duplex. So the connection speed is as slow as the slowest link. Christopher K. Using CFGTCP option 1 [WRKTCPSTS OPTION(*IFC)], I found the line description. The "Display TCP/IP Interface Status" shows the MTU = 1492 and the Line Type = *ELAN The "Display Line Description" shows both the Line Speed and the Current Line Speed as 10M (10 million bits per second). The maximum frame size is 1496. Is tracert available on the 400? I did a ping to the remote 400 I was having complaints about and a summary of the results shows: Round-trip (in milliseconds) min/avg/max = 46/67/95 Connection verification statistics: 20 of 20 successful (100 %). I used all of the default values on the ping command (except for the NbrPkt(20) ). Does this indicate anything significant? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
