In RPG/free (remember?), I would use

INCR   FieldToBeIncremented

and/or

DECR   FieldToBeDecremented

We're always open to suggestions!

The idea of an increment operator (like C's ++) has
come up before.  But we're rather hesitant to add that
to the language because of the problem of side effects,
