Just my opinion, of course, but there's really no substitute for simplicity. SUB X Y or ADD X Y works very well for decrementing or incrementing. It has the added bonus of being easy to read and understand, too. Unlike, say, EVAL x -= y, which would require quite a few more brain cells to figure out. Donald R.
