Patrick, I ran some tests on our system. Read 170M, IFS 4 minutes, Netware Volume 2 minutes, hard-drive 45 seconds. This was not a scientific test and could have been affected by network traffic. We take advantage of this ourselves. My concern is that IBM is selling this box as a server. And one aspect of a server is the ability to run server-based tasks efficiently. And it looks to me like the AS/400 is not up to the task in this area. Don't get me wrong, I'm an AS/400 bigot. I'm just disappointed in what I'm seeing so far in IFS file system performance.
