Thanks Patrick. For awhile there I was beginning to think the PC version
using the mapped drive was as fast as using the local drive! That really is
terrible performance. How about mapping to a shared folder (DLO)? Probably
even worse. I remember asking someone at COMMON some years ago why shared
folder performance was so terrible and I seem to recall the answer was
mainly security -- checking for authorities apparently had pretty horrendous
overhead. Could checking authorities really be that bad though!? Especially
on a dedicated machine that presumably has so much more horsepower that if
it were a tractor pull...
