I'll leave the definitive answer to that one to one of the IBM folks. I do 
recall seeing an article that quoted benchmarks showing that they are 
almost as efficient as creating explicit custom indexes to support joins. 
Just be certain that you are up to date on your PTFs. Up until 60-90 days 
ago, there were many problems with join processing using EVIs, at least at 
V4R3. That situation seems to have stabilized now and life is good. BTW, 
that is create index. A view is only concerned with the data space, not the 
access path.
