It is not that there are 1000+ hackers doing it. It could be just one. The way it works is to create a virus that places itself on thousands of PC's this virus waits for one controlling computer to tell it to "attack" a web site. So one hacker tells one computer to tell thousands to hit a site. There is no protection against this type of attack. Typically these are legitimate requests from legitimate IP addresses. What shuts down the site is the extremely heavy traffic. No matter how big your internet connection nor how much processing power you have behind it a hacker can collect enough pc's to swamp you. This type of attack will work on any system. Some systems may crash and others may not but either way Denial of Service will take place. John Hall Home Sales Co.
