Daivd, the packets are sent via TCP/IP to the server, with 'legitimate' information. This could happen as well to an AS/400 web server? It wasn't a DOS attack via email ... it was via TCP/IP packets. The industry experts the news media used tended to refer to the packets as "Messages" so that non-techies could possibly understand it.
