that's how we started out.  with a standard word processor and the book,
learn html in 7 days.  then we bought hotdog, and have been using that
ever since.  it was pretty popular several years ago, but it's been
replaced by others, like fp.

what i like about hotdog is you have buttons for the html commands, so
you work with the code, and you can see what you're doing right below in
a split screen.  and you don't end up with all the generated stuff.
