This reminds me of a problem I havent resolved yet....

I want to protect my 150s and modems from surges, spikes and lightning
strikes, especially down the telephone wires.

I cant justify UPSs to keep the machines up, so I'm looking to know whether
the smallest UPS (300VA - whatever that means), would provide protection.

How can I prevent lightning strikes from travelling down to the modems and
then to the AS400? I'm concerned because a friends PC was rendered
'unusable' after a strike down the tel line hit the modem (and I think the
PC was switched off).

Any help before the next storm will be appreciated!

- which means I have it set up to always run in the back ground.
~ Obviously, I don't shut my machine off at home unless a storm is in the
~ area.
