Training is such a critical issue. We have taking on students from JR Collages and have been happy with them. But how do make sure they are getting the right training and how do you make sure you are getting value for the money you spend training them? I have no problem spending money to train someone, and after they are producing to pay them for that new found production, but the measurement of what they are producing to the cost of training is not so easy (at least I have not figured it out yet). The technologies we are dealing with today are way beyond just RPG and CL skill (although those are important), they deal with Java, and PC's and ... I would love to have a shop of folks that loved to learn and I would love to provide them with what they need to learn as long as the total production still make business sense.
