To use the phone company's lines, you can use a TN5250e emulator and
use a LAN to LAN router connection using 33.6 dial-up, ISDN, Frame
Relay, 56k leased line, or DSL (if available). Telnet traffic is low
bandwidth, and TN5250E will give you both Display and Printer
sessions. It does require the telnet server in OS/400 to be
     configured.

You can use a remote access box and have each PC RAS in then do
     TN5250E to the AS/400.

You can setup an account with an ISP and Telnet accross the internet
to your AS/400, but that requires a persistent Internet connection on
     the AS/400 side.

To use a 5394 and Twin-ax cards, you can get a leased line from the
     phone company and run SDLC.

You can use a dial-up protocol convertor like a Renex TMS-5 (plug) and
have the users dial in directly.

     Good Luck!
