If you read the note carefully she only saw the AS400 a month ago for the
first time[ assume no education on same] so PC Support will be a bit of a
challange. Earlier in the thread .. . . All this is temporary to
whatever there Y2K solution provider is bring in house. . . .a little[
about a few months] past the horizon date.

the B10 is the very first model they came out with. I'd recommend
upgrading to a new 400 and ensuring that it has either a token ring or an
ethernet line. Call your IBMer and they can help give you arguements to
convince management, such as reduced maintenance costs, Y2K compliance,
internet capabilities, etc. They might still have some nifty trade in
programs although the B10 is so old I wonder. If you cannot upgrade
hardware see if you can get an upgrade to the operating system. The
highest that your machine will support is V3R2. The newer machines will
run V4R3. I am even a little frightened to recommend V3R2. The jump from
V2 to V3 add's some system cross reference files that can really eat disk.

communications line. Often used for Electronic Customer Support (ECS) with
IBM. Other uses include dial up or leased line usage between banks, other
400's and what not. Having 5 of these is actually quite a few.

into a PC that will connect the PC to the AS/400. However for file
download capabilities I'd recommend PC Support, (or as they renamed it in
the newer versions of the OS, Client Access). Let's double check for it's
existence. I am trying to remember ancient commands. Let's try GO LICPGM
and then take option 10 to Display Installed licensed programs. If you
don't have PC Support then you'll have a tough time downloading files.
Although I think some of the twinax card manufacturers have their own
download programs.

I'd hate you to get a bad taste of it by using such a crippled version.
