:::This, I feel, should be the deciding factor in GUI/non-GUI questions; does the :::GUI add (or give the appearance of adding) functionality without adding (or :::again, giving the appearance of adding) complexity to the end-user ? ::: :::Answer 'yes' to both, and go with a GUI, answer 'no' to either, stick with the :::less pretty green screen... Good advice, Phil. The only drawback is when you work in a situation where EVERY program runs under Windows, and the development languages are all GUI-based. What then? I suppose it's best to write a GUI-based program that is "text-like".
