:::I dislike bringing a piece of the project in on budget and on time and then have it explained in detail what I've missed doing. Pointing out that this is the first time these new features have been discussed isn't useful. What is really happening is that the others that are behind and over budget have had pieces of their assignment shifted over to me, and some project manager is trying to save his own inadequate estimate. I'm an independent; amen to the above. How about this: You give them a quote for the User Requirements Document. Explain that the User Requirements Document can then be used to create the software. The software will match the URD, nothing more, nothing less. Just a thought; wonder if it would work. Probably not ... since so many are looking for something for free.
