The last time we compared them head to head, the 833 was more money and still 
was missing some
features the Shiva had.  Additionaly some of the features were just out for one 
release (always
makes me nervous) while Shiva has had them for some time.  The final straw was 
the Perle Sales guy
had terribly outdated information on the Shiva that he was using in his 
comparison-a real turn off.
(Note that I like and use other Perle products frequently.)

We have been impressed with the Shivas(and 8235s) for some time now and I have 
installed many of
them from 8 serial port to 72 Modem 4-T1 units.
