--------- RE: Re[2]: DSPJOB open files display? I'd agree with Pete and Eric in your particular case. However don't stop using User Controlled opens completely. If you have a file that may not "Logically" be used for the whole duration of the program, Only open it once, the first time it's needed. Like a file that is used only on an error condition, or something like that. We have subfiles that may sort by 4 or 5 different logicals. The user may (at anyone sitting) use only 1 or 2 and may never use the others at all that session. I open them the first time the user uses that sort sequence and then leave them open. I have a driving file that has several National Account #'s in it. I read one of the National Account #'s then I OPEN the second (UPDATE) file, SETLL on it with e partial key, then READE the records updating all the Equal records, then it drops out of the DOW loop and CLOSES the file. Then it reads the next National Accoun # and drops back into the above routine again. I thought the UC user area was the proper way to do the file updates? ~~~ (0 0) Tim & Dana Truax... and Caleb 5 years old. --ooO--(_)--Ooo-------------------------------------------- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
