Well.... you can access SQL from CL programs through the intermediate step 
of QMQRY.  Create a QMQRY source that looks like UPDATE FILEX SET 
FIELDY='NEW VALUE' WHERE FIELDZ=&FIELDZ  Compile it and in your CL program 
do a STRQMQRY ... SETVAR((FIELDZ 'ABC'))  This'll change FIELDY for each 
record where FIELDZ is equal to ABC.  Many other cool things are possible 
with this technique!
