IBM DROPPING DEVELOPMENT OF DOMINO, NETWARE, OS/2 ON IPCS
http://www.news400.com/redir/redirDB.cfm?ID=305
IBM is dropping new development of Domino, NetWare, and OS/2 WarpServer

Yeah, the O/S is always greener on the other side of the fence isn't
it !
Why use the solid reliable OS/2 code base when you can use NT - as
solid as an Aero bar !

on the IPCS, leaving V4R3 as the last release of OS/400 to support
these
products. IBM will continue to support the products until January 31,
2001, however. IBM says it will focus
new IPCS development on NT on the IPCS, with a goal to get new NT
releases, such the upcoming release of NT 5.0, ready for the IPCS
within
30 days of the official Microsoft ship date.

So what are they going to be working on between now and the year 2001
? :-)
Setting a target date based on NT 5.0 release date must be a
procrastinators dream !

(Domino is available
natively on the AS/400 for V4R2 and higher, which is why IBM is pulling
the plug on developing Domino on the IPCS.)

I guess I can understand the reasoning, as long as any existing users
can continue to use the IPCS version as is,
        just no future enhancements coming.
