  • Subject: What Version of Service Pack for OS/400, etc ???
  • From: Chuck Lewis <CLEWIS@xxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Folks,

Me again...

In case I haven't explained, I have taken a new job and the shop I am in
had a 620 installed in November '97 in anticipation of getting off of a
Unix/NCR box. That is still the plan but not much has happened with the
AS/400 and there has been no AS/400 "knowledge" in-house. That's where I
come in and I am TRYING to get everything "caught up"... (i.e. OS PTF's,
CA installed, TCP/IP, backups, etc.)

I figured out that I needed CA Windows 95/NT Service Pack V3R1M2 bacause
that is what we CURRENTLY have on the ONE PC we are setting up with CA
(that was AFTER downloading V3R1M3 and trying to apply it and getting
the "SP must match host level" message... I'll be calling our marketing
rep on getting V3R1M3 - as soon as I figure out who that is <BG>)...

I loaded V3R1M2 on the PC and when I took the "reboot PC" option and it
came back, I had the following message:

Check Version

Your managing system XXXXXX (our system name), is at Client Access
level: SF41904.
Your computer is at Client Access service pack level: SF47544.

You can change the service pack level to match your managing system by
uninstalling the current service pack. Do you want to uninstall the
current service pack ?

I tried calling Support Line only to find out that we have NO contract
(something else that I am workig on... <G>) and the subscription folks
are supposed to be calling me back.

I've looked at APAR II10303 which goes over PTF's for V3Rx systems. The
V4R1 section doesn't include much and doesn't appear to be something
that would cause this...

ANY idea what is going on ?

Thanks !

Chuck
