I don't remember the s/38 EVER having S/36 emulation. From what I remember
the AS400 is the only midrange machine to have a s/36 emulation mode.

|I think it was System/3 and 36, then System 38. The Sys/38 had
| S36 emulation from almost day one. How could it emulate a
|machine that didn't already exist?
|
|So I agree with you, not your friend.
|
|Of course, it could be argued that the 36 was not in the direct
|blood line at all. But did become a relative by marriage when
|the 236 & 436 where introduced. And then with V3R7 running SSP,
|we now have inbreeding. And without the normal genetic
|consequences!

|Subject: AS/400 History
|
|I am having a debate over AS/400 history and I'm hoping someone
|on the List
|can settle it. What was the order of computer platforms
|introduced by IBM -
|(System 36, System 38, AS/400)?
|
|I say the order was 36, 38, 400. My friend says it was 38, 36,
|400. Could
|someone help me settle this?
|
|Thanks!
